U.S. WITHDRAWS FROM THE PARIS AGREEMENT AGAIN

On January 20, 2025, Trump signed an executive order to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement again.  U.S. from the Paris Agreement again.

REPORTS

CONSEQUENCES OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

With the Trump Administration withdrawing the U.S. once again from the Paris Agreement in January 2025 and downplaying reports like the National Climate Assessment, the future of critical reports on climate change is uncertain.

  • The National Climate Assessment’s website went dark in July 2025, and the federal staff responsible for drafting the next version were fired in April.
  • Not only are existing resources on climate change threatened, but the Trump administration is potentially engaged in actively spreading misinformation through misleading reports. The Department of Energy published a report in July 2025 offering a “critical assessment of the conventional narrative of climate change.” The report declares that “carbon-dioxide induced warming appears to be less damaging than commonly believed” and that “mitigation strategies could be more harmful than beneficial.” However, according to a WIRED story, nine scientists claim their own research was misinterpreted in the report and that authors were “cherry-picking data, misrepresenting findings, drawing erroneous conclusions, or leaving out relevant context.” Watch one special from Democracy Now on the dangerous misinformation of the report.
