JOBS

Environmental and green careers continue to be in-demand and the number of green jobs are on the rise. At the end of 2019, renewable energy saw a jobs boom across America, with nearly 3.4 million people working in wind, solar, efficiency and other clean energy fields. Although the Coronavirus pandemic has stalled this growth, Americans overwhelmingly support COVID stimulus funding for the clean energy industry, and more investment will create new jobs and opportunities. Millions of unemployed workers could still benefit from long-term opportunities related to clean energy, and Brookings has published a report analyzing how clean energy jobs can power an equitable COVID-19 recovery

For more on where the clean energy jobs are, see the breakdown at Climate Nexus or the 2020 U.S. Energy and Employment reportOn Grist, find advice on changing careers, or on preparing for a career in climate.
