ClimateChangeResources.org is an initiative created by two book-publishing veterans, Lena Tabori and Mike Shatzkin. CCR’s founders are not climate or energy or public policy experts. However, they are experts in finding experts and expertise, recognizing and curating valuable content, and applying a broad general understanding of science, culture, economics, and political reality to a topic that is growing in importance for people every day.
Mike Shatzkin is the Founder & CEO of The Idea Logical Company (http://www.idealog.com) and a widely-acknowledged thought leader about digital change in the book publishing industry. In his nearly 50 years in publishing, he has played almost all the roles: bookseller, author, agent, production director, sales and marketing director, and, for the past 30 years, consultant. His insights about how the industry functions and how it accommodates digital change form the basis of all of the company’s consulting efforts.
He co-founded Climatechangeresources.org in 2017. It is a website aggregating trustworthy information on global warming to inform and create routes for action.
Lena Tabori is the CEO and co-founder of Welcome Enterprises and, until July 2014, the publisher of Welcome Books, an imprint of Welcome Enterprises Inc. She began her career in 1967 at Harry N. Abrams, leaving there in 1980 as their first female vice president (Marketing and Special Sales) to co-found Stewart, Tabori & Chang, where she remained until 1982 when she co-founded the book packager, Welcome Enterprises, Inc.
In 1991, Lena moved to San Francisco to become president and publisher of Collins Publishers San Francisco. In 1993, she returned to Stewart, Tabori & Chang as their president and publisher, building it into one of the most significant illustrated book publishers in the United States. Selling it in 1997, Lena returned to Welcome full-time where she and her partner Clark Wakabayashi created Welcome Books® as their official publishing imprint. In 2014 she arranged for its sale to Rizzoli International Publications. Welcome Enterprises Inc. continues to package books for others.
In 2017 she co-founded this website which aggregates trustworthy information on global warming to inform and create routes for action. She sits on numerous boards including The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents and chairs the East Hampton Town Energy Sustainability Committee.
