USGBC Federal Legislative Director Ben Evans will present information on the new incentives, grants, financing and other programs created under the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. He will outline the primary programs relevant for the buildings sector and discuss how they can be used to support LEED projects in the public and private sectors, with specific, actionable information on which policies can be used for different types of buildings, what level of support is available, and what performance standards may be required.

Can Nuclear Power Be On Time and On Budget: A Discussion of Nuclear Power Construction

Sharm El-sheikh Climate Change Conference

At the Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Change Conference (COP 27), countries come together to take action towards achieving the world’s collective climate goals as agreed under the Paris Agreement and the Convention. Building on the outcomes and momentum of COP 26 in Glasgow last year, nations are expected to demonstrate at COP 27 that they are in a new era of implementation by turning their commitments under the Paris Agreement into action. The conference is taking place from 6-18 November 2022 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Heads of State and Government attended the Sharm el-Sheikh Climate Implementation Summit on 7 and 8 November. A high-level segment primarily attended by Ministers will take place from 15-18 November.

UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15)

Despite on-going efforts, biodiversity is deteriorating worldwide and this decline is projected to worsen with business-as-usual scenarios. The UN Biodiversity Conference will convene governments from around the world to agree to a new set of goals for nature over the next decade through the Convention on Biological Diversity post-2020 framework process. The framework sets out an ambitious plan to implement broad-based action to bring about a transformation in society’s relationship with biodiversity and to ensure that, by 2050, the shared vision of living in harmony with nature is fulfilled.
